PTSA PROGRAMS and VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES


HOPTSA meetings are held at 8:45 A.M. on the third Tuesday each month on campus.  Everyone is welcome and encouraged  to attend.  Come learn about the following programs and events.

 

ARCADIA EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION LIAISON

CAN YOU HELP FOOD DRIVE

Volunteers coordinate collection of food, money and scrip for needy families in the Arcadia community.

CARNIVAL

Volunteers coordinate a carnival at the end of the school year with games, food and prizes. Each classroom participates by hosting a booth.                             

CHILD HEALTH COUNCIL
Representative attends monthly meetings off campus and reports to HOPTSA.  The Council helps children in need of medical, psychological and/or dental assistance. 

DESIGNING DADS AUCTION & GOLF TOURNAMENT *

Non-profit organization funds music education and other school projects through a golf tournament and dinner/auction held in April.  *Designing Dads is a separate 501(c) 3 non-profit organization, not affiliated with HOPTSA.

DIRECT DONATION FUNDRAISER

FAMILY FUN NIGHTS
Volunteers coordinate an event for Highland Oaks families in the evening (this year, a Bingo night and a movie night).

FAMILY READlNG NIGHTS

Volunteers set dates and themes for Family Reading Nights.  Families may check out books and students may take accelerated reading tests.

FIFTH GRADE PARTY          
Committee plans fifth grade promotion party with games and yearbook distribution for the second to last day of school.

FIRST DAY COFFEE

FOUNDATIONS IN ART

Volunteers coordinate visual arts program and recruit parent volunteers who teach 6 classes (Art Docents) and those who assist (aides). 

FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY

GENERATIONS DAY

Committee organizes a visit the day before Thanksgiving for the special people (i.e., grandparents, neighbors, baby-sitters, etc.) in the lives of Highland Oaks Students to join our campus and classrooms.

GREEN CIRCLE
Committee teaches children tolerance and inclusiveness through diversity training for third graders.

HAWK TALK

Committee organizes the walk-a-thon fundraiser for students; proceeds go directly to the school.
